I was recently at Nathan Benderson Park and marveled at how beautiful of a park it was for a walk! This unique 600-acre park with natural attributes makes it one of only a few world class rowing and recreational facilities in the United States. The 3.5 mile loop around the 400-acre lake makes it the perfect setting for a race. I was excited to see that Fit2Run and Nathan Benderson Park are coming together to provide a 5K Turkey Trot to help local families kick off their Thanksgiving. What a great tradition to start with your family and friends! This 5k will start at 8am on November 22nd. You will cross the finish line before you know it, and will certainly work up a big appetite for your Thanksgiving feast. Maybe you can even treat yourself to a second serving of mashed potatoes with extra gravy if you beat your best time!
“Chip-timed runners cross the finish line after running the floating final mile over the lake, and will be awarded a tasty sweet treat and celebratory beverage to begin their Thanksgiving feast. Non-timed walkers will also enjoy the festive fun, along with age bracketed distances for Kids’ Turkey Dashes. All participants will receive an exclusive shirt and finisher medal. The whole family will gobble with glee as they enjoy race day activities for all ages! Don’t miss out on the inaugural running of your new Thanksgiving tradition.” For more information and to register, click here: https://www.fit2run.com/floridaturkeytrot
