Christmas in Sarasota

One of the many things I love about Sarasota is the uniqueness of our holiday events.  When you think of Christmas, do you think of boat parades?  Well, we do here in sunny Sarasota!  Since its origin in 1986, the Sarasota Boat Parade has attracted thousands of spectators to view the amazing display of vessels of all sizes and shapes decked out for the holidays!   The 33rd Annual Sarasota Holiday Boat Parade of Lights will be held this year on Saturday, December 08, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The best areas for viewing are Marina Jack Restaurant, Bay front Park, City Island and Centennial Park.  Here is some other important information from their website:

The Parade route has been expanded by an additional turn marker at the southwest side of Bay front Park. All boats must now pass approximately one third of the Sarasota Bay side of Bay front Park within a few yards, to be considered for judging. The Bay front Park spectator viewing area has been expanded to include the entire Northern tip of island near the fountain. The VIP viewing area has been moved to the Marina Jack’s fuel dock to allow additional space for spectators. This will improve spectator viewing from Bay front Park considerably. The SNN 6 local news staff will be covering the event throughout the evening at several areas throughout Marina Jack.  http://www.sarasotachristmasboatparade.com/about.html

One wonderful aspect of this parade is that Suncoast Charities for Children is working with select local agencies to bring approximately 60 special needs attendees to the sponsors/media area!  Also, a cash donation will be made to the Suncoast Charities for Children, Inc. from the proceeds of this event.

What a great way to kick off the holiday season and create some holiday cheer!    Maybe I’ll see you there!

Best regards from your Realtor and friend,

Linda
